Serena

In the North Carolina mountains at the close of the 1920s, timber magnate George Pemberton brings home a new bride, Serena, who turns out to be every bit his match in the logging camp.

She breaks horses, trains an eagle to hunt rattlesnakes, and saves an injured worker's life out in the wilderness. Their marriage runs on a hungry, possessive love. But George's buried past and a private loss of Serena's own start to crack the surface, and devotion curdles into something far colder. The bigger their empire grows, the shorter the list of people they will let stand in their way.
