Surface (Seasons 1–2)

"Surface" (2022) is a psychological thriller series you can watch online on iFILM. Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Sophie, who survives a fall from a ferry under circumstances no one fully explains — and wakes up having lost most of her memories. Her husband (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), her friends, her therapist all work to fill in the gaps. Sophie starts to suspect they're filling them selectively.

The series, created for Apple TV+, runs eight episodes in its first season. The San Francisco setting gives it a cool, expensive visual texture, but the tension lives inside Sophie's head. Stephan James plays a detective who seems to know more than he says. Frieda Pinto and Ari Graynor complete the circle of people whose loyalty Sophie can't verify.
