Mare Sheehan works the killing of a teenage mother while her own life buckles around her: a broken marriage, a son she lost, a grandchild her former daughter-in-law wants back. The town leans on her with expectations, the brass leans on her with deadlines, and every lead points toward a neighbor she has known for years. Jean Smart is sharp as her needling mother, with Julianne Nicholson, Evan Peters and Guy Pearce alongside.
