Synopsis
Star Wars: Visions (2021) is a Disney+ animated anthology series you can watch online on iFILM. Lucasfilm handed the galaxy far, far away to seven Japanese anime studios — including Kamikaze Douga, Studio Colorido, and Trigger — and asked each to tell a nine-episode story in its own visual language.
No two episodes look alike. One studio goes full samurai-action with hand-drawn line work; another builds a jazz-tinged noir with muted colours and shadow; a third leans into fairy-tale minimalism. The Force, Jedi, and Sith appear throughout, but they function less as franchise mechanics and more as raw material for original stories about sacrifice, loyalty, and what it costs to draw a lightsaber. Season two, released in 2023, brought in animation studios from Spain, Ireland, India, South Korea, and several other countries, pushing the anthology into genuinely global territory.
The series gave anime directors creative latitude rarely seen in mainstream franchise television. Stream Star Wars: Visions online on iFILM — nine shorts (and counting) that prove the galaxy has room for wildly different voices.
