Synopsis
The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial (2023) is an American military drama you can watch online on iFILM. It was the final film directed by William Friedkin — the man behind The Exorcist and The French Connection — and it's a stripped-down courtroom piece, set almost entirely in one room.
Lt. Maryk (Jake Lacy) relieved the captain of the USS Caine, Lt. Philip Queeg (Kiefer Sutherland), in the middle of a violent storm, convinced the man was unraveling and about to sink the ship. Now Maryk faces a court-martial. His reluctant defense attorney Barney Greenwald (Jason Clarke) doesn't believe in the case — until the questioning of Queeg begins to crack something open that no one in the room expected.
Friedkin stripped the story to its bones. No flashbacks, no sea battles, no score swelling over verdicts. Just testimony, silences, and Sutherland's Queeg — jittery, cornered, and genuinely ambiguous — turning the final cross-examination into the kind of scene that stays with you.
