Psycho II

Psycho II (1983) is the sequel to Hitchcock's horror classic, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Twenty-two years after the murders, Norman Bates is ruled sane and walks free, back to the house on the hill above the motel.

Anthony Perkins returns as Norman: soft-spoken, polite, desperate to be ordinary. He takes a job at a diner, befriends a young waitress named Mary (Meg Tilly) and tries to build a quiet life. Lila Loomis (Vera Miles), sister of his most famous victim, is certain he hasn't changed and wants him locked away again. Then the phone rings. The voice on the line claims to be Mother.

Director Richard Franklin, a student of Hitchcock himself, pulled off the rare worthy follow-up to an untouchable original. Instead of a dumb slasher, it's a jittery mystery about a man who can't tell whether he's losing his mind again or being driven to it on purpose. Robert Loggia and Dennis Franz round out the cast.
