Synopsis
The Happytime Murders (2018) is Brian Henson's crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM. In this version of Los Angeles, puppets live alongside humans as second-class citizens, and someone has started picking them off one by one.
Phil Phillips is a puppet and a former cop, the LAPD's first felt detective, kicked off the force and scraping by as a private eye. When the cast members of an old children's program called The Happytime Gang turn up dead, the case throws Phil back together with his ex-partner, the blunt and furious Detective Connie Edwards (Melissa McCarthy). The two bicker through every scene while chasing the killer. Expect sugar-rush narcotics, a puppet brothel, and humor that has nothing to do with a kids' morning show.
Director Brian Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson, deliberately turned the wholesome puppet genre inside out. The tagline says it plainly: no sesame, all street.
