Jon Baker is a former pro motocross rider whose knees and marriage are both giving out. He joins the CHP on a long shot. His new partner Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (Michael Peña) is actually an undercover FBI agent hunting a crew of crooked cops running a robbery operation on the LA freeways. The mismatched pair has to somehow function together — between crashes, car chases, and Ponch's very complicated relationship with personal boundaries. Vincent D'Onofrio plays the main threat, and Kristen Bell shows up as Baker's sharp-tongued wife.
