Synopsis

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) — watch online on iFILM. A drama-comedy written and directed by Rebecca Miller, starring Robin Wright as a woman whose carefully assembled life starts coming apart at the seams. Herb Lee, her publisher husband thirty years her senior, decides it's time to move to a Connecticut retirement community. Pippa has no say in the matter.

On the surface she is gracious, composed, endlessly accommodating. But the quiet of the suburbs gives her too much room to think, and long-buried chapters of her past refuse to stay down. The ensemble cast includes Keanu Reeves as her unlikely neighbour, alongside Julianne Moore, Winona Ryder, Blake Lively, Alan Arkin and Monica Bellucci. Miller adapted the screenplay from her own novel — a study of identity, middle-age unravelling, and the distance between the life a woman shows the world and the one she actually lived.
