Uhtred is Saxon by blood but grew up inside a Danish war camp after raiders killed his father and took the boy as a prize. Now ninth-century Britain is fracturing: King Alfred of Wessex is pushing to unite the English kingdoms while Danish lords dig into the land they've already won. Uhtred belongs to neither side — which makes him useful to both, and trusted by neither. Mark Rowley plays Finan, his Irish right hand who fights first and questions later. Timothy Innes is the young Prince Edward, watching everything his father builds and wondering what he will do with it.
