Synopsis
Assassination Nation (2018) is Sam Levinson's savage satirical thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A small American town called Salem loses its mind when an anonymous hacker starts dumping its residents' private messages online.
High-school senior Lily and her three friends end up at the center of the storm. At first the leaks feel like cruel entertainment — other people's photos, secret chats, the neighbors' dirty laundry on full display. Then half the town gets exposed, the masks come off, and the hunt for someone to blame turns into a torch-and-gun mob settling scores in the street. The girls are suddenly fighting for their lives. Odessa Young plays Lily, alongside Hari Nef, Suki Waterhouse and musician ABRA, with Bill Skarsgard, Bella Thorne and Maude Apatow turning up in supporting roles.
Levinson shot this years before the series Euphoria, and the style is already there: neon visuals, jittery editing, and a blunt take on surveillance and online pile-ons. A bloody parable about how fast a crowd picks its scapegoats. Stream Assassination Nation (2018) online on iFILM.
