Synopsis
The King (2019) is a historical war drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director David Michôd drops us into early 15th-century England, where a reluctant prince inherits a crown he never wanted.
Hal (Timothée Chalamet) would rather drink with old Falstaff than play court politics. Then his father, Henry IV, dies of illness and his younger brother falls in battle, leaving the wayward heir to become Henry V. Plots, rebellions and a sneering French court arrive almost overnight, pushing him toward an invasion of France and the mud and blood of Agincourt. Joel Edgerton plays a weathered Falstaff, Robert Pattinson a needling Dauphin, with Ben Mendelsohn and Lily-Rose Depp rounding out the cast.
Written by Michôd and Edgerton, the film reworks Shakespeare's Henriad in plain, almost modern speech — less grand oratory, more fatigue, doubt and the cold weight of power. A Netflix production running 140 minutes. Stream The King (2019) online on iFILM.
