The Tender Bar

The Tender Bar (2021) is George Clooney's coming-of-age drama you can watch online on iFILM. On 1970s Long Island, a boy called JR grows up without a father, and the man who fills that gap is his Uncle Charlie, a neighborhood bartender with books behind the bar and an answer for everything.

Charlie (Ben Affleck) runs a watering hole full of local talkers and quietly hands his nephew reading lists, blunt advice and the occasional lesson that lands. JR's mother wants more for him: a way out of her father's rundown house and into a real university. The older JR (Tye Sheridan) tries his hand at writing, falls for the wrong girl, and keeps drifting back to that bar stool.

William Monahan adapted the screenplay from journalist J.R. Moehringer's memoir, with Christopher Lloyd rounding out the family. Clooney keeps it low-key and warm, a story about who steps in when a father walks out. Watch The Tender Bar (2021) online on iFILM.
