Beautiful Boy

David Sheff (Steve Carell) is a journalist who thinks he has everything handled: a good home, a second marriage, a bright older boy he adores. Relapse here is a loop: a clean stretch, a 3 a.m. phone call, another fall, another fragile hope. David reads up on the drug, even tries it himself to understand, and runs into the hardest fact a parent can face — he cannot get sober for his kid. Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan play the two mothers the disease won't let go of either.
