Synopsis
Midnight Cowboy (1969) is John Schlesinger's bruised character drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Wide-eyed Texan Joe Buck steps off a bus in New York convinced his looks will make him a paid companion to rich women, then runs straight into a city that has no use for him.
Decked out in fringe and a cowboy hat, Joe looks like a cartoon against the grime of Manhattan. Dustin Hoffman plays Enrico "Ratso" Rizzo, a sickly, limping con artist clinging to one dream: getting to Florida before the cold finishes him. The two outcasts fall into an odd, fierce friendship and prop each other up through hunger and humiliation. Jon Voight is Joe Buck, with Sylvia Miles and Brenda Vaccaro rounding out the cast.
