Synopsis
Rendition (2007) is Gavin Hood's political thriller, and you can watch it online on iFILM. On a flight from Africa to Washington, Egyptian-born engineer Anwar El-Ibrahimi vanishes from the passenger list, leaving a pregnant wife waiting at the airport.
Flagged as a terror suspect, Anwar is flown under a covert program to an unnamed prison far outside US jurisdiction, where interrogators try to torture a confession out of him. His wife Isabella, played by Reese Witherspoon, pushes through Washington corridors chasing a husband who officially does not exist. Rookie CIA analyst Douglas, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, watches the interrogation up close and starts to crack. Above it all sits a cold government official played by Meryl Streep.
The film takes direct aim at post-9/11 extraordinary rendition and asks whether any end can justify torture. The cast also includes Alan Arkin, Peter Sarsgaard and J.K. Simmons, and its separate storylines fold together in a way you won't see coming. Stream Rendition (2007) online on iFILM.
