Help arrives in Nancy Thompson, the one girl who survived Freddy once before, now back as an intern. She teaches the teens a strange trick: inside a dream, you can be anyone you want. One becomes a wizard, another a hulking brawler. That is how the dream warriors are born. Robert Englund returns under the burns and blades as Freddy, while a young Patricia Arquette and Laurence Fishburne fill out the ward.

This third chapter brought series creator Wes Craven back as co-writer and pushed practical 1980s effects hard: stop-motion puppets, latex creatures, waking transformations.
