About

Synopsis

In My Country (2004) is a drama directed by John Boorman that you can watch online on iFILM. Samuel L. Jackson plays American reporter Langston Whitfield and Juliette Binoche plays Afrikaans poet Anna de Brant, thrown together as they cover South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings.

The Commission traveled town to town, and what Langston recorded was raw: victims naming their torturers, perpetrators confessing atrocities in exchange for amnesty. Anna sits through testimony that touches her own family's past. The professional partnership between these two reporters turns into something neither of them planned.

John Boorman frames the political as personal — the film is less about the Commission itself than about what it costs to listen to history being sorted out in a courtroom. For a drama set against the end of apartheid that doesn't preach, In My Country delivers something quiet and worth your time. Watch it online on iFILM.
