T2 Trainspotting

T2 Trainspotting (2017) is Danny Boyle's crime comedy-drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Two decades after Mark Renton fled with the money, he comes back to Edinburgh to face the friends he betrayed.

The old crew is still around. Sick Boy runs scams and a makeshift brothel with his partner Veronika, Spud is buried in debt and addiction, and Begbie breaks out of prison with a single goal: track Renton down and settle the score. Heroin has mostly faded from their lives, but the grudges, regret and wasted years have not. Boyle isn't really filming a drug story here. He's filming middle-aged men who never grew up.

Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle all returned to their roles after twenty years apart, which almost never happens with a sequel. The script again draws on Irvine Welsh's novels, and the famous "Choose Life" speech gets rewritten for the age of social media, sharper and more bitter than before.
