Synopsis
Reversal of Fortune (1990) — watch online on iFILM: director Barbet Schroeder's courtroom drama about one of the strangest American criminal cases of the decade. Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close star alongside Ron Silver as lawyer Alan Dershowitz.
Socialite Sunny von Bulow is lying in an irreversible coma. Her husband Claus — charming, aristocratic, and impossible to read — has already been convicted of injecting her with insulin to arrange her death. Now he wants Harvard law professor Dershowitz to unwind that verdict on appeal. Dershowitz isn't sure his client is innocent. He is sure the original trial was riddled with errors. Glenn Close's Sunny narrates from her hospital bed in the first person: a woman recounting a story whose ending she cannot tell you. Irons plays Claus with a clipped, almost theatrical composure — the performance earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor.
Schroeder structures the film as an open question. The audience sifts the same evidence as the defense team and draws its own conclusion. Stream Reversal of Fortune (1990) online on iFILM — a legal thriller that doubles as a portrait of wealth, ambiguity, and the machinery of justice.
