Synopsis
2073 (2024) is a dystopian sci-fi thriller by director Asif Kapadia, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Drawn from Chris Marker's landmark 1962 short La Jetée, the film drops into New San Francisco — a scorched-earth police state where tech monopolies have dismantled everything that once passed for democracy. Samantha Morton and Naomi Ackie lead the cast through this world in 83 tightly constructed minutes.
Kapadia is best known for his documentaries Senna and Amy, both BAFTA winners. This is his first foray into dystopian fiction, and he doesn't treat it as genre exercise. The film is explicitly framed as a warning — about surveillance, concentrated power, and what gets lost quietly before it's lost loudly.
