Synopsis
White Hunter, Black Heart (1990) is Clint Eastwood's character drama you can watch online on iFILM. Eastwood directs and stars as John Wilson — a larger-than-life Hollywood filmmaker modeled on John Huston. Jeff Fahey co-stars as Wilson's friend and screenwriter Pete Verrill.
Wilson flies to Africa to shoot his new picture. The picture, as it turns out, is not his priority. An elephant is. He keeps abandoning the cast and crew to head into the bush, burning through the schedule while his team waits in the heat. Verrill watches in disbelief: the budget is dissolving, actors are losing patience, and the director they came to work with would rather face a charging animal than step behind a camera.
Eastwood adapted the film from Peter Viertel's novel — a thinly veiled account of what Viertel witnessed working alongside Huston on the 1951 set of The African Queen.
