Synopsis
Lonely Hearts (2006) is a crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Todd Robinson. The film reconstructs a real case from the late 1940s: Raymond Fernandez, played by Jared Leto, placed personal ads in newspapers targeting widows. His partner Martha Beck, played by Salma Hayek, would travel with him to meet the women — and kill the ones she felt were getting too close. Together they are believed to have murdered close to twenty people before they were caught.
Two detectives from the Essex County homicide unit track them across state lines. John Travolta plays Elmer Robbins, a cop still raw from his own wife's suicide. James Gandolfini is his partner Charles Hoffman. Robbins recognizes something in the killers' dynamic that goes beyond motive — a destructive attachment that mirrors, in its own way, his private grief. Laura Dern appears as one of the victims.
