Dark Blue

Dark Blue (2002) is a crime thriller directed by Ron Shelton — watch it online on iFILM. The story is set in late April 1992 Los Angeles, days before the verdict in the Rodney King trial touched off the worst urban unrest in the city's modern history.

Kurt Russell plays Bobby Eldon, an LAPD detective from the old school: brutal shortcuts, protected sources, cases closed by whatever means work. His new partner Perry Lassiter (Scott Speedman) still thinks there's a right way to do the job. A double homicide in a convenience store pulls both men into something Eldon has spent years keeping buried. Brendan Gleeson and Ving Rhames round out a cast that keeps the film grounded. The screenplay is based on a James Ellroy story — the same author behind L.A. Confidential.
