Synopsis
The Parallax View (1974) is a political thriller directed by Alan Pakula — watch it online on iFILM. Reporter Joe Frady witnesses a senator's assassination from a rooftop and thinks nothing of it. Then the other eyewitnesses start dying. Accidents, suicides, coincidences — seven people gone in short order.
Frady digs in. What he uncovers is a corporation that recruits potential assassins through psychological screening, then deploys them against public figures. Warren Beatty plays Frady as a man too stubborn to back down and too exposed to be safe. Pakula shot the film in 1974, deep in the shadow of Watergate, and the picture's cold, institutional dread hit audiences exactly where they lived.
