Fearless

Fearless (霍元甲, 2006) is a martial arts drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Ronnie Yu built the film around Jet Li's portrayal of Huo Yuanjia, a real wushu champion from Tianjin who became a national icon in early twentieth-century China. Jet Li described the project as his farewell to the action genre.

Young Huo burns with a single ambition: become the best fighter in the city, just as his father once was. He wins, repeatedly, and his reputation grows brutal and cold. Then one act of arrogance costs him everything he loves. He disappears into the countryside, spends years farming with strangers, and gradually rediscovers what the discipline was supposed to mean before it became a weapon for his ego.

The final act brings him back to Shanghai around 1910, where he faces four foreign fighters in sequence — a test framed as sport but charged with national pride. Shido Nakamura plays the Japanese challenger Tanaka, an adversary Huo comes to regard with something close to respect. Nathan Jones and Anthony De Longis round out the international opponents.
