About
Synopsis
Wilde (1997) is a biographical drama directed by Brian Gilbert that you can watch online on iFILM. Stephen Fry plays Oscar Wilde at the height of his fame — the playwright behind The Importance of Being Earnest, the wit who owned every drawing room in London.
Then comes Lord Alfred Douglas, "Bosie," played by a young Jude Law. What begins as infatuation grows into an obsession neither man can walk away from. Bosie's father, the Marquess of Queensberry, launches a public campaign against Wilde; Wilde sues back — and loses everything. Prison. Exile. Silence.
Based on Richard Ellmann's acclaimed biography, the film also features Vanessa Redgrave, Orlando Bloom in an early role, and Michael Sheen. Watch Wilde (1997) online on iFILM.
