Synopsis
Eat Drink Man Woman (飲食男女, 1994) — watch online one of Ang Lee's finest early works, a Taiwanese-American co-production running 124 minutes that uses a dinner table as its battlefield.
Master chef Chu lives in Taipei with his three grown daughters. Every Sunday he cooks a feast that takes most of the day to prepare. Nobody really wants to be there, and nobody can bring themselves to leave. The eldest teaches school and has settled into a life she barely chose. The middle daughter flies routes across Asia and keeps her private life off the radar. The youngest slings fast food and has no idea what she actually wants. Around those elaborate Sunday dishes, each of them is quietly changing in ways the others haven't noticed yet.
Ang Lee turns the rituals of Chinese cooking into a precise emotional shorthand — appetite, restraint, nourishment, and what gets left on the plate. Stream Eat Drink Man Woman online on iFILM for a warm, sharp comedy-drama about a family that shares meals but leads entirely separate lives.
