Synopsis
The Ambush (Al Kameen, 2021) is a UAE military action film directed by Pierre Morel that you can watch online on iFILM. The story reconstructs a real operation from the winter of 2018: three Emirati soldiers on a routine patrol near Mocha Base drive into a narrow canyon and find themselves caught in a pre-planned attack by heavily armed militants.
Cut off from communication, low on ammunition and with two of their number wounded, Ali, Bilal and Hindasi have to hold on long enough for their base commander to mount a rescue. Ground units and air support are scrambled — but the clock is short. Morel, who directed Taken, builds the canyon section into an extended pressure cooker, staying close to the documented sequence of events rather than inflating them.
The film became the highest-grossing Arabic-language action release of its time. For audiences used to Western war cinema, it offers a different vantage point on the same genre — and a specific, unembellished account of what those three soldiers actually faced.
