Synopsis
Life of Pi (2012) is Ang Lee's adventure drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. After a shipwreck in the Pacific, a teenage zookeeper's son named Pi is left adrift on a single lifeboat.
He is not alone out there. Sharing the small boat are an injured zebra, a hyena, an orangutan, and a fully grown Bengal tiger called Richard Parker. The food runs low. The water runs lower. Pi has to work out how to survive beside a predator that would just as soon eat him, while the ocean stretches empty in every direction. Years later, a grown Pi tells the whole story to a writer — and closes it with a question that quietly rearranges everything you thought you watched.
The film comes from Yann Martel's novel, long considered impossible to put on screen. Lee answered with a flood of color and light and took the Best Director Oscar; the movie won four Academy Awards in all, including cinematography and score.
