Synopsis
A Million Little Pieces (2019) is a raw addiction drama directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, available to watch online on iFILM. James (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) wakes on a plane to Chicago with a broken face and no memory of how he got there. He's checked into a Minnesota treatment center, and the next two months will test every limit he has.
Detox here isn't softened for the camera — convulsions, sleepless nights, pain that doesn't negotiate. Inside the facility James finds two unlikely anchors: Leonard (Billy Bob Thornton), an aging mob boss who carries himself like royalty, and Lilly (Odessa Young), a young woman he isn't supposed to get close to under any circumstances.
The film is based on James Frey's 2003 memoir, which later became controversial when parts of it were revealed to be fabricated. Taylor-Johnson doesn't resolve that tension — she just makes a film about what it feels like to crawl back from the bottom without promising anyone a clean finish.
