Synopsis
Le Sauvage (1975), released internationally as Lovers Like Us, is a French romantic adventure comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Jean-Paul Rappeneau — later responsible for Cyrano de Bergerac — made this madcap film with Yves Montand and Catherine Deneuve at the top of their game.
Martin has one ambition: to live alone on an island off Venezuela and see no one. Nelly has one problem: she's in Caracas with a fiancé she no longer wants. Martin helps her escape, drives her to the airport — and then somehow ends up with Nelly as an uninvited guest on his island. Two people who want entirely opposite things, with nowhere to go.
Rappeneau turns the premise into a screwball chase across Caracas and then a slow-burn standoff on a small patch of jungle. Montand plays exhaustion with people; Deneuve plays cheerful, unstoppable disruption. The combination is hard to resist. Stream Le Sauvage (1975) online on iFILM.
