About

Synopsis

Irma la Douce (1963) is a Billy Wilder romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Wilder reunited his Apartment leads — Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine — for this Paris-set farce that runs nearly two and a half hours and earns every minute.

Nestor (Lemmon) is a by-the-book cop who gets fired and falls hard for Irma (MacLaine), a street girl working the same corner where he used to patrol. He cannot stand sharing her, so he hatches a scheme: dress up as a wealthy English lord and become her one and only client. The disguise creates problems faster than Nestor can solve them.

Wilder builds the farce with mechanical precision, and MacLaine's performance landed her a Golden Globe nomination. Stream Irma la Douce (1963) online on iFILM — a Hollywood classic about jealousy dressed up as a plan.
