Synopsis
Josephine (Joséphine, 2013) is a French romantic comedy directed by Agnès Obadia that you can watch online on iFILM. Marilou Berry plays the title role in an 88-minute story about a woman who tells one small lie and watches it eat her entire life.
Josephine is pushing thirty. Her job bores her, her love life keeps stalling, and her sister has just announced an engagement. Family dinners are starting to feel like interrogations. So Josephine invents a boyfriend — a handsome Brazilian surgeon — and tells everyone she is flying to South America to be with him. Problem solved. Except the lie has its own momentum: it demands backup lies, backup plans, and eventually a whole parallel story that Josephine has to maintain while her real life keeps moving underneath. Her friend (Bérengère Krief) watches the whole construction wobble.
Obadia keeps the film breezy and specific to its moment — the particular dread of late twenties, when everyone around you seems to have figured something out that you have not. Stream Josephine (2013) online on iFILM.
