DC's Stargirl (Seasons 1–3)

DC's Stargirl (2020) is a superhero series based on DC Comics that you can watch online on iFILM. Showrunner Geoff Johns adapted a character he created himself, named in memory of his late sister Courtney.

High schooler Courtney Whitmore moves with her mother to the small town of Blue Valley and stumbles onto a cosmic staff, the weapon of a long-vanished hero called Starman. She also learns that her stepfather Pat Dugan used to be that hero's sidekick. Rather than lock the staff away, Courtney decides to build a new team. Bit by bit she revives the Justice Society of America, this time made of teenagers, each with a homemade costume, a private fear and a reason to fight. Brec Bassinger leads the cast as Courtney, with Luke Wilson as Pat.

The show aired on The CW and ran for three seasons. Its tone is rare for the genre: a family drama about a stepmom, a stepdad and blended kids, wrapped in comic-book color.
