Synopsis
Only Fools and Horses (1981) is a BBC sitcom you can watch online on iFILM, created and written by John Sullivan. It follows two brothers from working-class Peckham in south-east London: elder Del Boy Trotter, a market trader who genuinely believes they'll be millionaires by next year, and his long-suffering younger half-brother Rodney, who believes nothing of the sort but sticks around anyway.
Seven series aired on BBC One between 1981 and 1991, followed by sixteen Christmas specials running through 2003. David Jason as Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney built one of British TV's great comic partnerships across those years. The 1996 episode "Time on Our Hands" drew 24.3 million viewers — the largest audience ever recorded for a sitcom in UK history. Buster Merryfield joined the cast from series four as Uncle Albert, and the regulars at the Nag's Head pub fill out a world that feels genuinely rooted in a specific time and place.
The show has had an outsized impact on the language: phrases Del Boy mangles or invents have drifted into everyday British speech. Stream all seasons and Christmas specials of Only Fools and Horses online on iFILM.
