Jack Foley, played by George Clooney, is a career bank robber with an enviable success rate and zero interest in violence. Thirty minutes of enforced proximity ruin both their plans. What follows is a chase in which catching the other person is still the official goal, but neither party seems entirely committed to it. Ving Rhames plays Foley's loyal partner Buddy; Don Cheadle is the genuinely dangerous criminal Richard Ripley; Albert Brooks plays a white-collar con man with terrible taste in associates. A young Viola Davis appears in a small but sharp early role.
