Synopsis

Emily is waiting for her husband to come home from prison, but his release pulls her under instead of lifting her up. Sunk in depression, she ends up under the care of psychiatrist Jonathan Banks, who puts her on a new experimental antidepressant. The drug eases her anxiety and hands her sleepwalking, blackouts and worse. When something irreversible happens, it's the doctor who stands to lose everything. From there the film keeps asking who is really being treated, and who is being used.
Soderbergh called this his farewell to theatrical filmmaking and built it like cold, precise clockwork where small details detonate much later.
