Synopsis
The Garden of Words (2013) is Makoto Shinkai's anime romance drama you can watch online on iFILM. High schooler Takao skips his morning classes on rainy days and sketches shoe designs in a Tokyo garden. One wet morning he finds an older woman sharing his bench.
Her name is Yukino. Neither of them plans it; they simply keep showing up at the garden when it rains. The talking comes slowly. Takao dreams of becoming a shoemaker, while Yukino carries something she isn't ready to explain. A quiet bond forms between them, but the rainy season is nearly over and the park will empty out.
The film runs just 46 minutes, yet it lingers for its visuals: raindrops on leaves, wet pavement, light breaking through clouds, all rendered with startling detail.
