Synopsis
Train Dreams (2025) is Clint Bentley's quiet period drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Joel Edgerton plays Robert Grainier, a day laborer whose unremarkable years quietly hold an entire stretch of changing America in the early 1900s.
Grainier fells timber, lays railroad ties, helps raise bridges across the Pacific Northwest. He spends long months away from his wife and daughter, and that distance slowly becomes the real story of his life. The film chases no grand events. Instead it watches one working man closely, and through him you feel what progress costs the ordinary people and migrant crews who actually build it. Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon and William H. Macy drift through like fellow travelers met along a long line.
It is drawn from the novella by Denis Johnson, and Bentley carries its restrained, near-poetic voice to the screen without inflating it. Narration, unhurried forest light and a sense of time slipping past push the picture closer to elegy than to biopic. Stream Train Dreams (2025) online on iFILM.
