A gray factory worker spends his days assembling helmets that flood their wearers with blissful color. He gets none of that. His whole world is monochrome machinery. At night he builds something better — a device of his own design. When it finally works, breakthrough and trap turn out to be the same thing. The short later inspired the Daft Punk music video "Around the World" and remains a quiet classic of independent animation.
