American Gothic (2016) is a US mystery-drama series — watch all episodes online on iFILM. The Hawthorne family of Boston has money, influence, and a recently deceased patriarch. Going through his belongings, they find something that connects him to a string of unsolved murders stretching back decades.

The family fractures along predictable fault lines, but the show works because none of the Hawthornes are easy to read. A politician protecting his career, a daughter who runs the family business like a command center, a wayward son, a sibling in recovery, and an in-law who never quite belonged — and somewhere among them, apparently, a knowing accomplice. Anthony Starr, Juliet Rylance, and Virginia Madsen carry the central tension between family loyalty and criminal exposure.
