Synopsis

Lawrence of Arabia (1962) is David Lean's desert epic you can watch online on iFILM. Peter O'Toole plays the British officer sent into Arabia as the First World War spreads across the Middle East.

Lieutenant T. E. Lawrence arrives as a liaison between London and the tribes revolting against Ottoman rule. The longer he rides with the Bedouin, the less he behaves like a soldier and the more he believes the myth growing around him. His guide is Sherif Ali (Omar Sharif); Prince Faisal (Alec Guinness) plays the long game, and the fierce Auda abu Tayi (Anthony Quinn) joins for plunder. A brutal crossing of the Nefud, the taking of Aqaba, raids on Turkish trains, and a hero who slowly starts to relish the killing.

Shot in 70mm by Freddie Young with a score by Maurice Jarre, the film runs nearly four hours and never once uses a female speaking role. It took seven Academy Awards, among them Best Picture and Best Director. Stream Lawrence of Arabia (1962) online on iFILM.
