About

Synopsis

Charlie Bartlett (2008) is a comedy-drama from Jon Poll you can watch online on iFILM. A rich kid gets expelled from every private school in town. So he conquers public high school instead, handing out advice and pills from a bathroom stall.

Charlie Bartlett was raised by money and psychiatrists. After his latest expulsion, his parents drop him into a public school, where he first gets punched and then finds his angle: he sets himself up as the student body's underground therapist. His office is a restroom, his currency is other people's secrets and prescriptions written for anyone who asks. Anton Yelchin plays Charlie with equal parts charm and unease, while Robert Downey Jr. is the worn-out principal and father the whole circus drives crazy.

This 2008 film often gets shelved next to Harold and Maude and early Wes Anderson, sharing that tone where the funny and the sad walk side by side. It's one of young Yelchin's standout roles and a rare teen movie that talks honestly about antidepressants and loneliness. Stream Charlie Bartlett (2008) online on iFILM.
