Synopsis

Anomalisa (2015) is a stop-motion drama from Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson you can watch online on iFILM. Michael Stone, a customer-service author flying into Cincinnati for a conference, hears the exact same voice coming from everyone around him.

That is the film's quiet trick: every other person Michael meets — his wife, his son, cab drivers, the hotel staff — is voiced by a single actor, Tom Noonan. His world has flattened into a grey sameness, until one night in a hotel corridor he catches a voice that is different. It belongs to shy, awkward Lisa (Jennifer Jason Leigh), the one person who sounds human. David Thewlis voices Michael himself. Built frame by frame with 3D-printed faces, it may be the tenderest, most uncomfortable love story ever told with puppets.

Anomalisa took the Grand Jury Prize at Venice and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. Stream Anomalisa (2015) online on iFILM.
