Universal Soldier

Universal Soldier (1992) is a sci-fi action thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Roland Emmerich directs, pitting two icons of nineties action against each other: Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.

Vietnam, 1969. Private Luc refuses to gun down unarmed civilians; his sergeant, Scott, has lost his mind to the war. The two kill each other in the jungle. Twenty-five years later the military brings them back as UniSols, memory-wiped super-soldiers built for missions no human should survive. But fragments of his old life start surfacing for Luc, dragged along by reporter Veronica (Ally Walker), who stumbles onto the classified program. Scott, meanwhile, remembers everything, and his rage sends him hunting his old enemy.

The movie became a calling card for the genre: a cyborg-soldier premise years ahead of the trend, plus bare-knuckle clashes between two martial-arts stars.
