A handful of passengers live through the crash. No radio, no rescue, and a search that gets called off while they are still breathing. To last on a frozen ridge where nothing grows, the survivors face a choice no one should ever have to make. Enzo Vogrincic plays Nando Parrado, who finally walks out over the mountains with a friend, no gear, on snow that just keeps going.

Bayona shot on the real ice and kept his Spanish-speaking cast, refusing the usual Hollywood gloss. The film counts the days rather than the heroics: someone keeps a diary, someone keeps a tally of the dead. It ran as Spain's Oscar entry and swept several Goya Awards.
