About

Synopsis

The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) is a swashbuckling adventure drama you can watch online on iFILM. Aging musketeers risk everything on a plot against their own king. Drawn loosely from Alexandre Dumas.

France is starving while the young Louis XIV (Leonardo DiCaprio) squanders the treasury on feasts and whims. Locked away in a fortress sits a prisoner whose face stays hidden behind iron — and that hidden face threatens the throne itself. Athos, Porthos and Aramis (John Malkovich, Gérard Depardieu, Jeremy Irons) hatch a plan to swap out the tyrant. Only D'Artagnan (Gabriel Byrne) still serves the crown, and his choice tips the balance.

Randall Wallace, who wrote Braveheart, directs here. DiCaprio pulls double duty as the cruel monarch and his gentle twin, and a young Hugh Laurie turns up in a small role. Duels, court intrigue and the old "all for one" creed make it comfort viewing for fans of big costume adventure. Stream The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) online on iFILM.
