New Amsterdam (2018) is the NBC medical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Max Goodwin takes over as medical director of America's oldest public hospital, and the first thing he asks every employee is four blunt words: "How can I help?"

Played by Ryan Eggold, Goodwin tears through red tape for the sake of patients. He fires a cardiac surgery unit full of self-serving doctors, treats prisoners and the homeless beside the wealthy, and fights the board over budgets. The staff stays skeptical, since directors before him made the same promises and left. Max has his own battle too: throat cancer, and a wife expecting their first child. Around him are oncologist Helen Sharpe, psychiatrist Iggy Frome and surgeon Floyd Reynolds.

The show draws on the memoir "Twelve Patients" by Eric Manheimer, a real medical director at Bellevue. It runs five seasons and has finished its story.
