The Greatest Beer Run Ever

The Greatest Beer Run Ever (2022) is Peter Farrelly's war dramedy you can watch online on iFILM. New York, 1967. Dockworker Chickie Donohue makes a barroom promise: he'll sail to Vietnam and hand-deliver cans of cold American beer to the neighborhood boys fighting there.

It sounds like drunk talk. Then Chickie (Zac Efron) actually boards a cargo ship, lands in Saigon, and goes looking for his friends one combat zone at a time. The closer he gets to the front, the harder it becomes to square what he sees with the version of the war he grew up trusting back home. Russell Crowe plays a battle-worn correspondent; Bill Murray and Kyle Allen round out the cast.

The story comes from the real John Donohue, whose stunt in the middle of the war later became a book. Farrelly, the director of Green Book, again takes a near-absurd anecdote and turns it into something about loyalty and the cost of believing the official line.
